The day started with a very early meet for our intrepid Engineering team! 3am to be exact! We arrived at Heathrow with plenty of time to sort baggage etc - or so we thought - an hour and a half later having wrapped and re wrapped the oversize baggage we were finally on our way through security. And what a breeze that was - no one stopped and everyone on the plane in record time. An enormous plane, great food and films made for a pleasant flight.
We arrived in Abu Dhabi around 8pm and breathed a sigh of relief as all the baggage cane through unscathed and more importantly the pit displays were all intact and ready to use tomorrow. A taxi ride later, with a few whoops of “this place is amazing” as we drove past lit up water fountains and fabulous buildings.
After checking in, eyeing up the opposition but obviously being very friendly (!) we headed off for a quick pizza and bed. What a wonderful day and a bonus to have one of the team’s Dad come and meet us here! We got a genuine insight into what life out here is like - thank you Mr Murphy.
Tomorrow will be registration and making sure the car and displays have arrived in one piece. The afternoon visit is still up for discussion!
More news tomorrow from me and the team! Remember to follow us on Twitter - we get marks for social media coverage.
Tosbeho - Goodnight in this part of the world!
