The Library at RGS is at the heart of the School and was extensively renovated and officially opened in 2001 by the former Poet Laureate Andrew Motion.
Students are encouraged to utilise this welcoming and quiet space throughout the day as a place to study or for personal reading. It is also the venue for the School's Literary Society, Lower School Book Club and Upper School Homework Club (3:45pm - 5pm every evening).
The Library's extensive collection of books, magazines and journals is regularly updated and recommended reading guides are available to help students broaden and extend their academic and literary interests. The Lower School Reading Passport for Years Seven and Eight encourages younger readers to explore a wide range of fiction from the latest best-sellers to timeless classics. Displays are frequently changed within the library to highlight local and world events, with our notice board updated daily to ensure staff and pupils are aware of the latest goings-on in the literary world. Competitions and puzzles are readily available to encourage students to take a short break from their studies. We have also introduced mindful colouring this year, a proven stress reliever and calming way to unwind.
