App Limits
App limits allow you to set a daily time limit for app categories such as Social Media or Games.
For example, applying a 30 minute time limit to the Social media category will calculate the total amount of time that apps such as Facebook and WhatsApp are open during a 24 hour period. Once this limit is reached, the apps will not open again until the following day when the daily limit is reset.
It is possible for a request to be made to extend this period. This will require you to enter the Parent Passcode (see the Screen Time setup guide for information).
When configuring this, please be aware that it is possible to apply limits to ‘All Apps & Categories’ as well as ‘Education’ apps which could affect the use of apps during school hours.
Step 1:
Tap Settings – Screen Time – App Limits
Step 2:
Tap Add Limit
Step 3:
Select one or multiple categories from the list.
Please note: If you choose multiple categories at this stage and apply a one hour time limit, the limit is the calculated from the use of all apps in both categories and does not apply an hours limit to each category.
We would recommend that you do not use ‘All Apps & Categories’ but utilise the individual categories to give you greater control.
When you have selected the category tap Next.
Step 3:
Select one or multiple categories from the list.

Step 4:
Select the daily time limit you wish to apply to the category.
It is possible to set different time limits per day. Tap Customise Days and set each days time limit.
Tap add when complete.
Step 5:
If you wish to apply a limit to another category, repeat steps 2 to 4.
